Clock Face
Clock Face
The clock face is the main part where we see the time. It contains numbers arranged in a circle from 1 to 12. The hands move over the clock face to help us read the time clearly and easily.
Hour Hand
Hour Hand
The hour hand is the short hand on the clock. It shows the current hour and moves slowly around the clock. When it moves from one number to the next, one full hour has passed.
Minute Hand
Minute Hand
The minute hand is the long hand on the clock. It helps us know the minutes and moves faster than the hour hand. It completes one full rotation around the clock every sixty minutes.
Second Hand
Second Hand
The second hand is the thin and fast-moving hand on the clock. It moves quickly to measure seconds accurately and completes one full turn around the clock every minute.
Numbers
Numbers
The numbers on the clock help us tell the time easily. The numbers start from 1 and end at 12, and both the hour hand and minute hand use them to show the time.
Clock Center
Clock Center
The clock center is the point in the middle of the clock. All the hands are connected to this center and move around it to show the correct time.
How Does a Clock Work?
Learn about the different parts of a clock and how they work together to show time
Clock Face
The clock face is the circular part that contains numbers from 1 to 12. These numbers help us identify hours and minutes.
Tip: Numbers are arranged in a circle, and each number represents an hour of the day!
Hour Hand
The hour hand is the short and thick hand. It moves slowly and points to the current hour. It completes a full rotation around the clock every 12 hours.
Tip: Short hand = Hours. Remember: short and slow!
Minute Hand
The minute hand is the long and thin hand. It moves faster than the hour hand and points to the minutes. It completes a full rotation every 60 minutes (one hour).
Tip: Long hand = Minutes. Each number equals 5 minutes!
How They Work Together
The hands move from the center of the clock. When the hour hand points to 3 and the minute hand points to 12, the time is 3:00 (three o'clock).
Tip: Read the hour hand first, then the minute hand!
